Therme Bucharest Wellness Day Guide
About

Therme Bucharest Wellness Day Guide

Therme București opened on the northern edge of the capital with 800 palm trees imported under one of Europe's largest glass domes — a structure built to hold tropical humidity through Romanian winters.

The complex draws from a thermal aquifer 3,100 metres below the Wallachian Plain, water that surfaces at roughly 76°C and carries dissolved minerals associated with Roman-era balneology.

The site sits within the Therme bucurești orbit of Balotești, twenty kilometres from Piața Victoriei, and it has reframed how locals think about wellness travel. Visitors comparing therme bucharest tickets across the Galaxy, Elysium and Palm zones find a stratified offering: family pools and slides on one side, adults-only saunas and salt rooms on the other. Long-tail bookings — therme bucharest skip the line passes, therme bucharest entry ticket bundles, and bucharest thermal spa skip the line transfers — now outpace walk-ins, particularly on weekends when the basalt loungers fill before noon.

"Eight hundred palms breathe under a Wallachian sky held in glass."
Your experience

What a Therme Bucharest tour day looks like

A step-by-step walkthrough of Therme Bucharest tickets — what you'll see, how long each stage takes, and the details that matter.

You leave the city around nine, cross the ring road, and reach the gates as they open. A 71 RON Galaxy weekday ticket lands in your inbox before you reach the turnstile; the therme spa bucharest ticket scans on your phone and the queue dissolves.

You step through humid air into the central palm grove, where loungers face a shallow mineral pool and the glass canopy filters the morning light.

By eleven you've drifted into Elysium — fourteen saunas, salt walls, an aroma cabin scented with eucalyptus. You eat lightly, return to the water, and time the Galaxy slides for the early afternoon lull. A therme bucharest transfer back to Bucharest leaves at five, your skin still warm from the basalt.

Highlights

What you'll see inside Therme Bucharest

The landmarks, rooms, and views travelers on Therme Bucharest tours remember — all visible on a single visit.

Galaxy Wave Pool

Galaxy Wave Pool

The centerpiece of the Galaxy zone is Romania's largest indoor wave pool, surrounded by sandy beaches and palm trees; the pool holds thermal water maintained at a constant 33°C drawn from over 3,000 metres underground.

The Palm Mineral Pools

The Palm Mineral Pools

The Palm zone features three distinct mineral pools — one enriched with Dead Sea salt for skin purification, one with lithium ions to reduce stress, and one with magnesium-calcium compounds for muscle recovery — all beneath a retractable glass roof.

Elysium Himalayan Salt Sauna

Elysium Himalayan Salt Sauna

Built from 40 tonnes of illuminated pink Himalayan salt blocks, this themed sauna in the Elysium zone operates at around 60°C and is one of ten distinct saunas available to adults; the salt walls glow in shifting colours during Aufguss ritual sessions.

Se & Zn Panoramic Pool

Se & Zn Panoramic Pool

Positioned on the upper level of Elysium, the Se & Zn pool is infused with selenium and zinc — minerals with documented antioxidant skin benefits — and has a swim-up bar at its edge with views over The Palm botanical garden below.

Indoor Botanical Garden — The Palm

Indoor Botanical Garden — The Palm

Dress code

Swimwear is mandatory in all pool and wet areas at therme bucharest; swim shorts are accepted but standard underwear is not permitted as swimwear. A towel must be carried at all times — required for sauna entry — and can be rented on-site if not brought from home. Flip-flops or waterproof sandals are strongly recommended throughout the complex.

Bags & security

Standard bags and small backpacks are permitted and can be stored in the personal locker assigned to you on arrival via your RFID bracelet. Oversized suitcases are held securely by staff at the entrance area free of charge, making the București thermal spa convenient for travellers arriving directly from Henri Coandă Airport. Do not leave valuables unattended outside your locker.

Photography

Personal photography for private use is generally tolerated in dry areas and gardens, but mobile phones and cameras are not permitted in the pools or sauna rooms. Staff actively enforce the no-phone rule inside the water areas. If you want photos of the botanical garden or palm-lined walkways, take them before entering the pool zones.

Accessibility

The Galaxy and The Palm zones at therme bucharest are located on Level 0 and are fully accessible for wheelchair users, including designated washrooms with disability support. The Elysium zone is on the upper level and is not wheelchair accessible. The touchless RFID bracelet system removes the need to handle cash throughout the visit, which benefits guests with limited dexterity.

Mobile phones

Mobile phones are permitted in dry areas, changing rooms, and the botanical garden walkways, but are strictly prohibited inside pools and sauna rooms. Staff will ask you to put your phone away if used near the water. The myTherme app is useful for checking real-time occupancy levels and scheduling Aufguss ritual times before your visit.

  • Inflatable pool toys
  • Professional camera equipment

  • Sports equipment

Families & strollers

Galaxy is the only zone where children aged 3–14 are permitted, and it offers 16 water slides spanning 1.7 km, Romania's largest wave pool, and a sandy beach with palm trees. Children under 3 may enter The Palm zone with a birth certificate for age verification. Children under 14 are not admitted to Elysium. Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and those under 16 cannot access Galaxy after 22:00.

Food & drink

Therme București has multiple dining options across zones: the Humboldt self-service restaurant in The Palm zone offers international cuisine including sushi, burgers, salads, and vegetarian dishes; The Mango Tree in Elysium serves à la carte Thai-inspired cuisine in a robe-friendly setting. Pool bars in Galaxy and The Palm serve cocktails, juices, and soft drinks, all charged seamlessly via the RFID bracelet. Outside food and drink are not permitted inside the complex.

Pets

Pets are not permitted anywhere inside the therme bucharest complex, including outdoor gardens and parking areas adjacent to the entrance.

Good to know

The RFID bracelet issued on arrival acts as your locker key, zone access pass, and cashless payment device — all charges are tallied and settled by card or cash when you return it at exit. The myTherme loyalty app awards Zen points for visits that can be redeemed against future tickets. Towel-drying racks are positioned throughout the complex so your towel stays dry between pool and sauna sessions.

Therme Bucharest — everything else worth knowing

Best time to go, insider tips, nearby landmarks, and the cancellation fine print — flip through to skim what matters to you.

Best time to visit Therme Bucharest

How crowds, weather, and events shift across the year.

Spring (Apr–May)

Shoulder-season crowds; outdoor pools and beaches reopen from late May; the annual plant and wellness festival runs in early May.

Summer (Jun–Aug)

Outdoor beach area and Sands of Therme urban beach fully open; busiest period, especially weekends — weekday mornings are the best window.

Autumn (Sep–Oct)

Noticeably calmer than summer; all indoor facilities fully operational; comfortable indoor temperatures contrast with cooling outdoor air.

Winter (Nov–Mar)

Lowest visitor numbers; the glass-dome tropical warmth at 30°C feels especially striking; ideal for sauna and mineral pool focus.

Helpful tips for your visit to Therme Bucharest

Small details that turn a good visit into a great one.

Book tickets in advance online

Pre-booked therme bucharest tickets let you bypass the ticket-counter queue entirely — walk straight to the wristband desk, especially critical on Friday and Saturday evenings when lines can extend outside.

Use the myTherme app for occupancy checks

The app shows real-time crowd levels by zone before you travel; if Galaxy shows high occupancy, the Palm or Elysium will typically be quieter — useful for flexible visitors.

Arrive with swimwear already in a bag, not under clothes

The official rule prohibits wearing your swimsuit under street clothes on arrival; put it in a separate bag and change in the unisex changing cabins, which also have hairdryers.

Check the Aufguss timetable screens on arrival

Aufguss ritual sessions in the Elysium saunas fill up fast; the schedule boards near the entrance list all upcoming sessions by sauna — plan your sauna rotation around them rather than wandering in.

Bring two towels if possible

One towel for the sauna (mandatory; must be sat on) and one for drying after pools — towel racks are available to air-dry them between uses, but having a spare saves time.

Visit on a weekday evening for the best atmosphere

The therme București complex transforms after dark: pools and botanical gardens are lit up and visitor numbers drop significantly compared to afternoons, giving a more relaxed experience at the same ticket price.

  • "Spent six hours in the Palm zone and barely noticed the time passing. The mineral water genuinely loosens tight shoulders, and the palm canopy keeps the light soft even at midday. Bring flip-flops because the walkways get slippery near the lagoon."
    Andreea M. · Romania · 2026-04-22
  • "Booked one of the therme bucharest tours that bundles transfer from Otopeni and it saved a frustrating taxi negotiation. The Elysium adults-only area was the highlight for us, especially the salt sauna ritual at four in the afternoon. Lockers work with a wristband which is genuinely seamless."
    Lukas B. · Germany · 2026-03-15
  • "Walked in from minus two degrees outside straight into a humid jungle, which alone justified the trip. The outdoor thermal basin is the best part in cold weather because steam curls everywhere and the contrast feels medicinal. Food court is decent, not gourmet, but the smoothies are honest."
    Sofia R. · Spain · 2026-02-08
  • "This place is enormous and the Galaxy slide section gets loud with kids on weekends, so go early if you want quiet. The sauna world on the upper level is a different universe though, very calm and adult. Tickets are tiered by zone access, read the fine print before you buy."
    Marcus J. · United States · 2025-12-19
  • "Skeptical Scandinavian here who has seen many spas and therme bucharest still impressed me. The aufguss sessions in the panoramic sauna were properly run by trained masters with eucalyptus and citrus infusions. Easy tram and shuttle access from the city center as well."
    Ingrid T. · Sweden · 2025-11-03
  • "Brought two kids aged seven and ten and they spent four hours in the Galaxy zone without complaint. We adults rotated into the Palm pools while they slid. Clean changing rooms, cashless wristband, and staff spoke English without issue."
    Kenji O. · Japan · 2025-09-27
  • "Had a long layover and grabbed a same-day bucharest therme spa entry online. The outdoor solarium with daybeds was full but we found loungers indoors near the lazy river. Skip-the-line therme bucharest tickets through the app saved roughly forty minutes at the front desk."
    Camille D. · France · 2025-07-14
  • "Visited on a Saturday which was a mistake, the lockers had a queue and the buffet was packed. Once inside the Elysium zone everything calmed down and the experience matched the price. Bring your own slippers, the rentals are basic."
    Elena P. · Italy · 2025-05-30
  • "Booked a half-day bucharest landmarks circuit that ended at the spa and it was a smart way to combine sightseeing with recovery. The Roman-style steam bath and the polar shower contrast helped enormously after a day of walking the Old Town. Staff at the wellness reception were patient with my questions about the zones."
    David K. · United Kingdom · 2025-03-11
  • "Outside it was grey and three degrees, inside it felt like Bahia with palm trees and humid air. The thermal lagoon water has a slightly mineral taste in the air and your skin feels soft for a day after. Recommend the four-hour pass minimum, three is too short."

Frequently asked questions about therme bucharest tours

What are the opening hours of therme bucharest?

Therme bucharest is open Monday to Thursday 10:00–23:00, Friday and Saturday 09:00–23:59, and Sunday 09:00–23:00. Last admission is 90 minutes before closing time and all facilities close 30 minutes before the stated closing hour.

What is the entrance fee for therme bucharest tickets?

The adult weekday 3-hour Galaxy zone ticket starts from 71 RON. Longer durations (4.5 hours or full day) and access to The Palm or Elysium zones cost more; weekend prices are higher than weekday rates. Children under 3 enter The Palm zone free with a birth certificate.

How do I get to the Bucharest thermal spa by public transport?

Take bus 442 from Piața Presei Libere directly to the therme bucharest stop (approx. 20–30 min, 3 RON for a 90-min ticket). From Henri Coandă Airport (OTP) the same bus 442 takes roughly 10 minutes. Taxis and rideshare apps (Bolt, Uber, Yango) are available for door-to-door travel from the city centre in 30–45 minutes.

Is therme bucharest accessible for wheelchair users?

The Galaxy and The Palm zones are on Level 0 and are fully wheelchair-accessible, with designated washrooms in both areas. The Elysium zone is on the upper level and is not wheelchair accessible. The cashless RFID bracelet system also helps guests with limited dexterity.

What should I bring to therme bucurești?

Bring swimwear, a towel (mandatory for sauna entry; available to rent on-site), and flip-flops. A waterproof phone case is useful, or leave your device in the locker when entering pools. Sunscreen is recommended if you plan to use outdoor areas.

Can children access all zones at the Romanian wellness complex?

Children aged 3–14 may only access the Galaxy zone; children under 3 may enter The Palm with a birth certificate. No one under 14 is admitted to Elysium. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult, and under-16s must leave the Galaxy zone by 22:00.

What is the cancellation policy for therme bucharest tickets?

Third-party therme bucharest tickets (GetYourGuide, Headout, Viator) are fully refundable when cancelled at least 24 hours before the selected entry time. Cancellations within 24 hours of the start time are non-refundable. Tickets purchased directly at the venue are generally non-refundable.

What food and drink options are available at the spa?

The Humboldt self-service restaurant in The Palm zone offers international dishes including sushi, burgers, and vegetarian options. The Mango Tree in Elysium serves Thai-inspired à la carte cuisine. Pool bars in both Galaxy and The Palm serve cocktails and soft drinks. Outside food is not permitted.

Are mobile phones and cameras allowed at therme bucharest?

Personal photography is allowed in dry areas and gardens but mobile phones and cameras are strictly prohibited inside pools and sauna rooms. Staff actively enforce this rule. Take photos of the botanical garden and architecture before entering the water zones.

What is the best time to visit the Bucharest spa resort to avoid crowds?

The best time for a therme bucharest tour with minimal queues is arriving between 10:00 and 12:00 on a weekday, particularly Monday to Thursday. Winter months (November to March) see the lowest overall visitor numbers. Summer weekends are the busiest period.

Can I combine a therme bucharest tour with other nearby attractions?

Yes — a popular day-trip combination pairs a therme bucharest tour with a visit to the Slanic Salt Mine (approx. 90 min north). Mogoșoaia Palace, 15 minutes by car, is a scenic Brâncovenesc-style landmark ideal for an hour before or after the spa. Bucharest's Old Town is 30–40 minutes by car or public transport.

What zones are available and what makes each one different?

Therme bucharest has three zones: Galaxy (all-ages family zone with 16 water slides spanning 1.7 km and Romania's largest wave pool); The Palm (adults-only tropical oasis with three mineral pools, hydromassage beds, and a retractable glass roof); and Elysium (premium adults-only zone with 10 themed saunas, Aufguss rituals, a selenium-zinc panoramic pool, and The Mango Tree restaurant). An Elysium ticket includes access to all three zones.
